A Catholic Timeline for Future Events
Please note that events listed as occurring in the same year are not listed in any particular order. This timeline is only a brief summary! There are many more predictions and many more details in my book The Bible and the Future of the World.

2008: Hilary Clinton elected U.S. President

2009: Hilary Clinton changes her mind about abortion and become pro-life. The year 2009 will be a year of great success for the pro-life cause.

2009: Pope Benedict XVI suggests building three places of worship in Jerusalem, a Temple, a Church, and a Mosque, so that these three religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, can worship in peace in the City of Peace. “For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid.” (Mk 9:6).

2009/2010: the beginning of the events described in the Book of Revelation, the first part of the tribulation, which includes the Day of Repentence and the Day of Healing.

** The first part of the tribulation is from 2009/2010 to 2039/2040 A.D.

2009: A small war among the Arab nations occurs, which prepares for World War III. Extremist Arab leaders will fight against more moderate leaders and the extremist leaders will win. There will be coups, uprisings, and outright war among the Arab nations. The leader of Iran and the leader of Iraq will end up with much control and influence over the other Arab nations of the Middle East.

2009 or 2010: Pope Benedict XVI dies. The next pope is elected, whom St. Malachy calls 'Peter the Roman.' He is not the last Pope.

2010: World War III begins. At the start of the war, the Arabs nuke New York City (in 2010). The war continues for many years; millions upon millions will die. World War III is the first of the Seven Seals and the first of the Four Horsemen (in the Book of Revelation).

2011/2012: the Arabs begin to threaten, attack, invade, and conquer territory in Europe.

During World War III: there will be many outbreaks of civil violence, rioting, looting, and other violent crimes, even in nations not directly taking part in the war. Civil disorder and violence is the second of the Seven Seals and the second of the Four Horsemen (in the Book of Revelation).

2012: When the city of Rome is half in ruins, then the Pope will be a holy martyr. As the Arab forces approach Rome, the Pope flees Vatican City, at night, carrying his own bag on his shoulder, accompanied by clergy, and guarded by soldiers. They escape Vatican City, but are pursued by Arab soldiers. The Pope (Peter the Roman) is captured by the Arabs. (The Arabs capture Rome and burn the churches there; they also burn Vatican City.) The Pope is taken to Syria, where an unjust sentence is handed down against him. They kill the members of the clergy captured with him, along with clergy from Syria, while the Pope watches. Then they put out his eyes, so that it is the last thing he sees. They take him to Iraq, where he is imprisoned and where he eventually dies, with no one to rescue him.

2012 or 2013: the Allies recapture Rome. It will be hailed as a great victory, but the great victory turns into a terrible defeat. Because the Arabs could not hold the city, they destroy it with a nuclear weapon in July of 2013.

2013: the great Famine of the 21st century begins. It lasts until the early 2020's A.D. It is an unusual famine because it is most severe in wealthy developed nations, and much less severe in poorer less developed nations. Europe will be most severely afflicted; the U.S. will also be affected. The great Famine of the 21st century is the third of the Seven Seals and the third of the Four Horsemen (in the Book of Revelation).

the 2010's: The Arab forces defeat the Allies and capture Europe, parts of Eastern Europe, the Northern part of Africa (above the equator). They hold this territory and occupy it for many years. During and immediately after World War III, many people die from a variety of different causes. Widespread death from a variety of different causes is the fourth of the Seven Seals and the fourth of the Four Horsemen (in the Book of Revelation).

the 2020's: The Arab forces continue the occupation. They oppress the people, especially Christians and Jews.

2020 - 2023: all Christians will be united in one renewed, restructured Catholic Church with 7 parts. The great famine ends. The people rejoice, but the Arab and Muslim leaders are angry at this unification of Christians.

early 2020's: After unification, the Church elects a Pope who is not Roman Catholic; he will be one of the converts from Protestantism and a member of one of the other of the 7 branches of the Catholic Church.

mid to late 2020's: the Arab oppression of Christians becomes more intense. Christians are persecuted more and more. Some Catholics are upset at unification, like the elder brother of the prodigal son parable.

early 2030's: the Catholic Church holds an Ecumenical Council to reply to objections about the unification of all Christian in one Catholic Church with 7 parts. The Council decides in favor of the unification.

early to mid 2030's: the Arab persecution of Christians becomes an outright pogrom. Millions of Christians are killed in this massacre. This event is to Christians what the Holocaust is to Jews. This massacre is the Christian Holocaust and the fifth of the Seven Seals (in the Book of Revelation).

mid 2030's: the U.S. and its Allies decide to invade the occupied territories, to free the persecuted peoples, and to end the massacre. This war is World War IV. It is shorter, but more intense than World War III. Many nuclear weapons and pure fusion weapons will be used. One of the most prominent leaders of the Allies is called the great monarch. World War IV is the sixth of the Seven Seals (in the Book of Revelation).

2037/2038: the war ends with victory for the Allies, but at great cost.

2038: Many of the faithful are given a visible seal on their foreheads, as a sign of God's mercy and grace. Those sealed by God are spared from most of the remaining sufferings of the six trumpets of the Seventh Seal.

from 2038 to late 2039 or early 2040: A series of severe punishments from God occur, which constitute the first six trumpets of the Seventh Seal. (The Seventh Seal is divided in to seven trumpets; the seventh trumpet is divided into seven bowls of God's wrath. After the sixth trumpet, there is a respite from suffering and a long delay before the seventh trumpet and the seven bowls of God's wrath.)
First Trumpet: pieces of the broken comet (Tempel I) fall to earth, burning up a third of the earth's land, a third of the green plants, and all the dry brush.

Second Trumpet: one large piece of this same comet falls to earth, crashing into the ocean and causing world-wide destruction.

Third Trumpet: radioactive fall-out from the nuclear weapons used by the Arab forces in World War IV kills many people and poisons a third of the drinkable waters.

Fourth Trumpet: a nuclear winter begins, caused by World War IV and by the many fires from the comet pieces that fell to earth.

Fifth Trumpet (2039): “Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth; they were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those of mankind who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads....” (Rev 9:3-4).

Sixth Trumpet: the Three Days of Darkness occurs in either late 2039 or early 2040. One third of the earth's population at that time will be killed. The previous sufferings in combination killed about another third of the earth's population. (Zech 13:8).
2040: the great monarch's holy and peaceful reign begins. Before the Three Days of Darkness, the news media and the unfaithful will have convinced most people and most leaders not to allow the great monarch to rule over the entire vast territory formerly held by the Arabs. After the Three Days of Darkness, everyone will agree to hand over this territory, in its entirety, to the great monarch.

2040's and 2050's: a time of peace and holiness and rebuilding on earth. The great monarch (who is from France) and the Angelic Shepherd (who is from Croatia) are holy and just leaders. The great monarch's kingdom includes the territory formerly held by the Arabs, including Europe, parts of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Israel, and Northern Africa. It does not include the United States. Faith guides the Church and the State; reason is the servant of faith, not its master. Rome will be the center of authority in the Church. A new Vatican is built in Rome. Jerusalem will be the center of worship in the Church. Christians remain united in one holy Catholic Church.

late 21st century: the world begins to slip, a little at a time, into less and less holiness, more and more sinfulness.

about 22nd century: Russia becomes a world power again and causes much harm.

about 23rd century: Africa, India, and the East (China) become a world power, by means of air power.

about 24th century: The world becomes organized into ten kingdoms only, ruled by ten leaders only. Christianity is ridiculed, harassed, and persecuted by society and government in 9 of the 10 kingdoms. Only in the kingdom of the South (formerly the southern part of the great monarch's kingdom, which includes Israel) are there some protections and some respect (but both very limited) for the Christian Faith. Even the kingdom of the South becomes very sinful and secularized.

the 24th century: there are repeated wars between the kingdom of the North (Europe) and the kingdom of the South. (Perhaps these wars begin even before the 24th century.) The Book of Daniel describes these wars (Dan 11:6-19).

the late 24th century: The Antichrist is born late in the 24th century. He is born in the kingdom of the South, of an unfaithful Bishop and an unfaithful Nun. He hides his origins.

the 24th century: as described in Matthew 23, many Church leaders have become very sinful and secularized. But the faithful within the Church are more holy than ever before.

early 25th century: The Antichrist takes power in the early 25th century.

2420's: the Antichrist has a role of leadership in Europe (the kingdom of the North), but he has little power at first because that kingdom has a complex power structure with many leaders, not yet a dictatorship. He consolidates power and becomes nearly a dictator, but his power is still limited and he cannot do all that he wants to do. He does not yet declare himself to be a god.

2430: the Antichrist wages war against the Christian king of the South (Israel, the Middle East, Northern Africa), the last bastion of Christianity. He defeats the South, not so much by battles, as by betrayals. Now that the last governmental protections for Christianity are defeated, the supports of the Antichrist kill the Pope of that time. There will not be another Pope before Christ Returns.

2430/2431: The Antichrist defeats the leader of the rest of Africa and a leader of the East, again through deception and betrayals, not outright war. He now controls four of the ten kingdoms; these same four have the four most powerful militaries. The other six kingdoms bow to his will and make a strong pact with him. He now rules over almost the whole world and now he can make all kinds of blasphemous claims about himself. There will always be for him pockets of rebellion and resistance. His kingdom never has peace.

2431 to 2437: The Antichrist, the lawless one, reigns for nearly seven years. The last half of this reign is the most severe for Christians.

halfway through the Antichrist's reign:
At the appointed time, he will return, and he will approach the South, but the latter time will not be like the former. And the Greek warships and the Romans will come upon him, and he will be pierced, and will retreat, and will have scorn against the testament of the sanctuary, and he will act. And he will return and will consult their adversaries, who have forsaken the covenant of the sanctuary. And arms will take his side, and they will pollute the sanctuary of the strength, and they will take away the continual sacrifice and will replace it with the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:29-31, CPDV)
The Antichrist is angry at the resistance to his rule offered by Christians (and some Jews and Muslims) in the kingdom of the South. He assembles a huge fleet of military ships to completely crush all resistance. The South does not have an army or military force, other than that captured and now controlled by the Antichrist. It seems as if it will be a massacre, not a battle. In advance, the Antichrist publicly boasts that he will crush those who have been resisting him in the South. But, as he approaches the South, a small fleet of ships from another part of the world intercepts him; they have a new weapon that can breech his defenses and pierce his ships. He is afraid. He is forced to withdraw. He is publicly humiliated. His claim to be a god is undermined. He can no longer rely on open warfare to put down rebellion by the faithful.

The Antichrist is extremely angry at the Church and so he decides to try to destroy the Church from within. He consults with heretics and apostates from the Church and he learns from them that the Eucharist is the strength of the Church. He then uses changes in laws and the power of law enforcement to promote a false Eucharist, a perverse imitation of this holy Sacrament, and to promote all of the heresies and perversions of these traitorous Christians (who are not truly Christian). The abomination of desolation is this false version of the Eucharist.

This last half of the Antichrist's reign is the time of the Crucifixion of the Church, the worst of the worst of the sufferings that the Church must accept. During this time, the two prophets of Revelation preach in opposition to the Antichrist. They cannot be stopped during the time of their prophesying. They can strike the world with any affliction, as they see fit to do, with merely a word of prayer to God. The Antichrist can do nothing against them. Their preaching against him is public and many are converted. His claim to be a god is again undermined.

When God finally allows the two prophets to be killed, the people refuse to let them be buried, and so their bodies lie in the streets for three and one half days. Everyone is watching their dead bodies on whatever is their equivalent of 24-hour television at that time. People are so happy to be rid of them that they declare a holiday and exchange gifts. Then after three and one half days, in the sight of the whole world, they are resurrected from the dead by God, and they are raised up to Heaven. Now the Antichrist's claim is severely undermined. The two prophets said that he was not a god, and that Jesus is the true Christ. And the whole world saw the two prophets dead, then resurrected, then raised up to Heaven. The Antichrist seeks some way to recover his claim to be a god.

After about 30 days, the Antichrist stages a false ascension to Heaven. He is assisted by technology and by devils. The people of the world are interested but skeptical. He rises up into the sky, and, as the world watches, the Archangel Michael smothers him and throws him down to the ground. The Antichrist is severely injured, but still alive. The world loses its confidence in him and rejects him as leader.

There is a brief time allotted by God for repentance, and for the Church to gather and pray for Christ's Return.

2437: Jesus the true Christ returns with the Virgin Mary (Nahum 1:15) - I believe that, when He returns, he will teach and act, gathering the faithful together who had been scattered by a sinful world. He may also alot additional time for repentance.

2438/2439: a series of severe punishments on the wicked.

2440's: Jesus establishes his kingdom on earth. Jesus then ascends to Heaven (second Ascension) with Mary (second Assumption).
2440's: And then Jesus sends the Holy Spirit (second Pentecost), this time over the whole world.

Thereafter, Christianity rules the whole world during a long period of peace and holiness, called the Millennium. It may take a generation, or two, or three for the world to rebuild and to recover from the previous time of sin. Christianity will be the only religion on earth. This time lasts for well over a thousand years. Christ rules from Heaven, through the Eucharist and the Church. This time of peace has been called Christ's Eucharistic Reign, since He does not reign as a worldly king would, but as a Heavenly King.

Sometime long afterwards: there is a time when many rebel against the Church in an attempt at open warfare, but they are immediately killed by God; no war occurs.

Sometime after that: the general Resurrection of the just and the unjust.

At the time of the general Resurrection, the faithful who are still left alive on earth do not die and immediately rise, instead they receive the benefits of the Resurrection without dying and rising. This is the correct Catholic understanding of the rapture.

God creates a new Heaven and a new earth and a new Hell. The resurrected just are assumed into a new Heaven, one fitting for both body and soul. The resurrected unjust are thrown down into a new Hell, one fitting for both body and soul. Purgatory ceases. And death is no more.

And after that, I don't know what happens.
