my friend and co-worker was newly married and became pregnant. they wanted a child, but she found out that she also had cancer of the uterus. She could have had an abortion and then received treatment for the cancer to save her own life. instead she decided not to be treated for the cancer, so that the child would have a chance at life. she risked her own life to give her first and only child a chance to live.
